Intervista all’esperto del settore, il pedagogo.
Cos’è un pedagogo? In quali circostanze un genitore dovrebbe valutare l’intervento di questa figura professionale, nel percorso educativo del proprio figlio? Lo abbiamo chiesto alla dottoressa Deborah Turrini, laureata in Scienze dell’Educazione, iscritta all’albo interno dell’ANPE (Associazione Nazionale dei Pedagogisti Italiani) e referente regionale dell’ANPE Veneto, lavora come pedagogista in libera professione a Verona.
D. Dott.ssa Turrini, puo' spiegare ai nostri lettori, con parole semplici, in cosa consiste la sua professione?
La mia professione consiste nel creare e mettere in pratica dei progetti educativi rivolti all’individuo o al piccolo gruppo, a volte a classi scolastiche, relativi al superamento di difficoltà di apprendimento e/o emotive e all’identificazione di strategie ottimali per le persone utili ad affrontare ambiti cognitivi (come un metodo di studio) o emotivi (ad es. la gestione delle emozioni attraverso tecniche di PNL).
D. Con quale tipologia di persone lavora abitualmente? Ha una fascia di eta' preferenziale?
Il mio intervento è rivolto a persone dai sei anni in poi. Lavoro con bambini, ragazzi e adulti, ovviamente con modalità differenti, sempre basate sul dialogo, l’ascolto attivo, la PNL e il One Brain, ossia la parte della kinesiologia emotiva e rivolta all’apprendimento (di cui preciso sto terminando la formazione).
D. Puo' spiegare molto brevemente che cosa s’intende per "disturbi dell'apprendimento"?
Esistono due “scuole di pensiero” relative ai disturbi dell’apprendimento: la prima medico-psicologica che li definisce una disabilità neuro-biologica (punto di vista che non mi compete), l’altra più pedagogico-culturale che associa tali disturbi alla Teoria delle Intelligenze Multiple di H. Gardner. Secondo questa interpretazione le persone utilizzano il cervello in modo diverso a seconda delle aree maggiormente potenziate e, di conseguenza, hanno diverse abilità e difficoltà. Le persone con difficoltà di apprendimento, nella maggior parte dei casi, hanno attivato maggiormente il canale visivo a scapito di quello verbale e logico-matematico. Inoltre non si può dimenticare la componente emotiva, che gioca sempre un ruolo fondamentale nell’apprendimento, bloccando le abilità cognitive.
D. In quale modo si manifestano? Cosa deve fare un genitore che si accorge del disturbo del proprio figlio?
Le difficoltà di apprendimento si manifestano prevalentemente in età scolare, in particolare dalla fine della prima elementare. Si riscontra sempre la difficoltà di attenzione (tempi brevi di attenzione-concentrazione, difficoltà nello stare seduti fermi sui banchi di scuola, una grande abilità di produrre chiacchiere, rumori e pensieri propri estraniandosi dal contesto scolastico e un deciso rifiuto nello svolgere i compiti per casa), possono comparire inversioni di lettere, di cifre, una lettura faticosa e scorretta con la conseguente limitata comprensione, difficoltà di calcolo e logico-matematiche, fastidi e malori temporanei allo stomaco e alla testa…comunque ogni caso va valutato di volta in volta.
Consiglio ai genitori di affrontare l’argomento con l’insegnante di riferimento e, insieme, di decidere l’intervento più opportuno per il figlio. E sarebbe auspicabile un percorso di comprensione anche per i genitori!
D. E' possibile trattare queste problematiche fino al raggiungimento della completa guarigione?
Non è possibile una completa guarigione perché non è una malattia. Le persone con difficoltà di apprendimento hanno un diverso modo di inserire e di rielaborare le informazioni, che si scontra un po’ con il nostro modo occidentale di diffondere la cultura, basato quasi esclusivamente su sistemi astratti (lettere e cifre), sono persone di un intelligenza sopraffina e le più creative in assoluto.
D. Nello svolgimento del suo lavoro, collabora anche con altre figure professionali?
Sì’, collaboro occasionalmente con le psicologhe del Palazzo della Sanità di Verona, con una logopedista, una neuropsichiatria infantile, con gli insegnanti e con i genitori (non dimentichiamoli, sono preziosi).

molto interessante l'articolo e peraltro mi ha reso più chiaro il motivo per il quale ho avuto difficoltà notevoli nell'apprendimento. cosa che nessun medico, nessun insegnante e i miei genitori avevano capito. Buono a sapersi, potrei essere d'aiuto a qualche collega o a qualche amica con figli, che presentano questo "problema"

L'articolo, tanto importante per i contenuti , dovrebbe essere dato come dispensa a tutti gli insegnanti che spesso definiscono "lazzarone "il bambino che non risolve un problema o un piccolo testo.Mio figlio Alessio aveva difficoltà di apprendimento che io, mamma e insegnante, avevo visto dall'inizio della prima elementare .Un giorno gli è stato assegnato un problema che non avrebbe potuto risolvere neppure in una settimana , semplicemente perchè non era in grado , ma la maestra ha riempito quella pagina vuota con la scritta:ecco cosa ha fatto Alessio dopo due ore di tempo!! Era in seconda elementare!
Grazie a tutti per i vostri commenti. Come scrivono giustamente Anonimo e Monica, un tempo i bambini venivano accusati d'essere pigri o ritardati, e non si pensava che potessero richiedere un metodo d'insegnamento differente rispetto a quello standard.Molti bambini intelligenti sono cresciuti con la convinzione di essere sciocchi solo perché hanno bisogno di "vedere" i concetti astratti. Ma è anche grazie allora loro particolarità che questi stessi bambini sono poi diventati adulti fantasiosi e geniali. In rete c'è un lungo elenco di personaggi famosi affetti da dislessia, e fra questi compar anche il fisico Albert Einstein.
Purtroppo nell'insegnamento serve competenza e sensibilità , dote che non si può conquistare con nessuna laurea , ecco perchè succedono ancora episodi come quello da me descritto riguardante mio figlio Alessio .

Cosa sono le tecniche PNL.? Questo argomento mi riguarda da vicino e mi interessa molto. Molto esauriente.
Ma parliamo di dislessici famosi : Maria Teresa Ruta, Paolo Bonolis, si dice che siano gli unici conduttori che non usino la cartelletta. Ma noi in casa non ci capacitiamo di come sembra leggere veloce Bonolis durante la trsmissione Avanti un altro.

Grazie a tutti per i commenti, Alla mamma di Alessio, a Ory Deva e ad Aurora. Credo che gli insegnanti abbiano il dovere di distinguere un alunno svogliato da uno che ha bisogno di un metodo d'apprendimento alternativo - e badate, non considero patologico il dislessico, tutt'altro! Solo, ha bisogno di concretezza, cosa che spesso l'insegnamento si dimentica di elargire. Coinvolgere un ragazzino nell'apprendimento sarebbe poi un dovere verso tutti gli studenti. Andare in una scuola dove ci si diverte imparando è immensamento più gradevole che trascinarsi in un edificio in cui si è considerati solo numeri...
Scusate ma non capisco. Avrò difficoltà nell'apprendimento? Nn capisco come ha fatto Grillo ad arrivare dove é arrivato. Magari tanti italiani sono mezzi deficienti..o fingono di nn capire?

leggo con attenzione il tuo articolo ..... mi spiace non averlo avuto a disposizione tanti anni fa ..... forse avrei evitato tanti problemi......
sono la mamma di una ragazza con disturbi dell'apprendimento (dislessia - discalculia). Ora frequenta la classe IV superiore con buoni risultati. Ma non è sempre stato così! Il percorso scolastico è stato molto difficile...per tutte e due..... mia figlia che faceva fatica a stare al passo con i suoi compagni ed io che non capivo il perchè!......Quando chiedevo alle insegnanti mi rispondevano che le cause erano la distrazione piuttosto che la mancanza di interesse.... Nel tempo mia figlia ha sviluppato tecniche proprie per imparare e studiare per superare gli ostacoli che ogni giorno le si presentavano e con molta tenacia è arrivata fin qui! Solo in II superiore, su consiglio di un'insegnante di lingua straniera, è stato diagnosticato questo disturbo. Finalmente davo una risposta a tutte quelle domande che un normale genitore si pone di fronte agli insuccessi "scolastici" dei propri figli !!! Purtroppo accade molto spesso che questo disturbo venga inteso come mancanza di intelligenza ! Grazie Federica per aver specificato che le persone con DSA sono molto intelligenti e creative ma soprattutto se ben supportate e ascoltate possono fare tutto e raggiungere qualsiasi obbiettivo !
